Happy Böoreste!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Dec 24, 2021 at 09:11:27 AM

Ho there, adventurers!

The Festival of Böor has begun! Every year, the nation of Isilmerald celebrates Böoreste, the Night of the god of Cold. Men and women prepare for the heart of winter with warm blankets and strong drinks. Bundles of sticks are collected by children, to be burnt as offerings to Böor to protect them from the cold. People build massive effigies for Böor, and burn them at the stroke of midnight on Böoreste to ensure the god's favor in the upcoming months.

While Isilmerald is busy with preparations, we added a bug report hotkey (Alt+B) that doesn't require you to leave the game any more when reporting bugs, and implemented several other improvements and fixes as well. This new update was was published yesterday on Steam and GOG. You can read the complete changelist below:

almost 3 years ago – Fri, Jul 02, 2021 at 05:48:32 AM

Ho there, adventurers!

Today's an important milestone for Black Geyser. We've finally released our Steam page, unleashed our latest trailer to show just some of what we've been working on, while also having answers to some prominent community questions. Best of all, we're officially announcing our Early Access date: August 26th, 2021!

 Steam Page

Our Steam Page took quite some time to get right, but I think it's fair to say we're all incredibly happy with the result. Eagle-eyed fans who were busy searching for it found it well ahead of this announcement, and we're pleased to say feedback has been incredibly positive.

Not only does it give those new to Black Geyser an overview of the game and what they can come to expect, but it also answers some burning Early Access questions. Just head to the page (you can click below) and look just under the carousel.

We're keen to gain as much feedback as possible with how it looks, what comparable games you see, and whether you think anything is missing. Just let us know below, or head straight to our Discord. Oh, and don't forget to 'Wishlist' and 'Follow' us!

New Trailer

Its been a while in the making, but it's finally here. What do you think?

Community Q&A

Our fans recently asked us plenty of questions about the game and while we're still getting answers to a couple that are hardware related, we've answered the vast majority. Check it out here.

A Glimpse At Our Updated UI
almost 3 years ago – Thu, May 20, 2021 at 12:04:05 AM

Ho there, adventurers!

On the back of our last update regarding our newfound partnership with V Publishing, we wanted to quickly showcase one element of the game we’ve been working on recently.

The original user interface of Black Geyser was influenced by many cRPG’s you’ve all played, and while feedback has been positive, in some cases it has been suggested it wasn’t quite unique enough. We’ve taken that feedback on board, and re-worked our UI to not only make it more original, but a lot more functional.

An early look at our updated UI

Some of the components such as the dialogue box have remained untouched, while other changes - such as central portraits and key action buttons - have been brought to the center.

Part of the reason for this is to not only focus the attention of the player, but to also ensure that important elements are within easy reach (such as Attack or Stop) and to generally tidy up the UI space.

This isn’t about rewriting the rule book, but it is about ensuring that the play experience is as comfortable as possible for those who only use a mouse, hotkeys or both.

At its core, Black Geyser is faithful to the genre, but we also want to ensure that we’re carving our own path. Making small changes to the UI is just one of many ways we're doing things a little differently.

We look forward to your feedback on the new UI and we’ll be sharing some more in game shots very soon!

Black Geyser Joins Forces With V Publishing
almost 3 years ago – Sat, May 08, 2021 at 02:49:40 AM

Ho there, adventurers,

Thank you for being patient with us. We are very excited to announce that we have partnered with indie game publisher V Publishing. We're excited to work with a publishing team that has years of experience promoting and developing games.

As a team we felt we needed a partner to help us deliver a great experience and provide valuable insights into the marketing and final gameplay experience, but did not want a traditional publisher to come and take away the creative control of the game. That is why we have teamed up with V Publishing. It is a true partnership, and we are working to see the original vision of the game come to life as intended. The team at V will be helping us improve many aspects of the final game and they have already started putting multiple plans in place, including regular development updates, more community engagement and activities, and of course announcing plans regarding launching the game.

Our adventurer party is now complete to face the final challenges

Michael Brown, the CEO of V Publishing, wanted to pass on a quick message to all our community members: “As huge fans of games like Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate, the whole team at V are looking forward to helping improve and deliver a great indie CRPG with depth, and a narrative experience that will be memorable. We hope to add huge value to GrapeOcean’s team and start getting the game in the hands of you all later this year. We are excited to also become members of the community and having fun with you all in the coming months.”

As for our team here, we hope this announcement gets you excited for what we have coming up. We’ll be launching the Steam page and releasing new content details in the coming weeks so stay tuned for that!
